New York Acting Workshops
Surrounding our core teacher-mentors are brilliant specialists. Three or four times a year, these immensely gifted and experienced trainers conduct workshops that concentrate on particular aspects of the actor's craft: voice, body, language, style, comedy, the classics - including Shakespeare, song, on-camera, and audition. Together with the core text & scene study, the specialist workshops help our actors devise their own training program. I invite you to join us.

This workshop will focus on how we make our audition monologues more spontaneous and alive and original. This workshop is for actors with different experiences helping beginners to articulate their voice and to the experienced actors to find a new approach toward monologue work.
Through exercises, improvisations, and working with your chosen text, students will work on:
- Presence as an awareness
- Relation to space and your public
- Body language
- Text analysis
- Breaking through familiar to a new, surprising vision and delivery of it
- Who is speaking
- Character embodiment
CREATE YOUR OWN WORK WORKSHOP
As fulfilling as an audition may be, creating your own content empowers you to act, and not wait. Taught by Jenna Laurenzo, this workshop recognizes that if, in our tech-savvy society, content can be created with cameras as simple as the one on your iPhone, why can't you do it yourself? Find out how to write the roles you want to play, tell the stories you want to tell, and cast yourselves in your own projects. Jenna, the Director, Writer, Producer and Star of Lez Bomb (now on Netflix) can offer you the tools, mistakes and lessons she learned as a self-starter, and will teach you how to take control of your careers.
The MHS Conservatory Showcase is an incredible opportunity for our Students to work with our expert instructors in all areas of creation, writing, acting, production and direction to showcase their talents and vision for New York to experience.
